Review: Laneige Water Supreme Foundation SPF15 PA+

I have always love Chanel Foundation for their texture, coverage and consistency. Review: Laneige Multi Cleanser

Laneige Multi Cleanser for All Skin Types

Laneige Multi Cleanser for All Skin Types

Greetings!

Hope you are having a pleasant start to your week! Makeup Toys has been pretty busy testing and trying out products so sorry for being so quiet up here. Nonetheless, after testing for almost 1 month, I am very glad to say that Laneige Multi Cleanser has replaced my Chanel Mousse Comfort Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser. It is pretty easy to decide because I am looking for something that is easier on my pocket and still works as well. If you are already using this, why not share with me what you think? Leave your comments yea?

Warning!

Having said that I’m looking for something easier on my pocket, please do be aware that there are many Fake Laneige products floating around in the internet. Anything that looks suspiciously cheaper, please be aware. If you live in Singapore, most cosmetics in departmental store only offer a maximum of 10% discount and that is on very special and rare occasions. I strongly recommend you to only purchase Skincare and Cosmetics from the brands own boutiques and reputable major departmental stores for genuine products. It is your skin after all, will you want to take the risk? Trust me, once it is damaged, the amount of work it takes to make it heal is way more than how much you had saved.

Its Features:

    • Suitable for all skin types
    • Removes Makeup, BB Cream, Sunscreen, Exfoliates and Cleanse
    • Contains micro beads for gentle exfoliating
    • Can be used as a daily face wash

What I Think:

Pros:

    • Have a pleasant smell
    • As I have combination skin, T-Zone Oily and slightly dry on the cheeks, this cleanser works very well. Does not leave any discomfort and my skin feels balanced
    • Helps to remove any last traces of makeup after using a proper makeup remover

Cons:

    • Does not remove waterproof makeup
    • For Mascara and Lip Sticks, please do use a proper Lip and Eye Makeup Remover
    • Microbeads is not very strong so if you are looking for a super fresh exfoliating cleanser, this is not your choice.

Will I Recommend It?

Yes, for the price. It works really well. I have even let my boyfriend tried it and he is not a convert. Just that he prefers to use the Laneige Homme Range so I will be sure to blog about man products really soon? Thinking of starting your man on skincare, check out this space right here real soon!

A little story about Kibble Monster

I have an adopted dog and his name is Marco. He is 3 1/2 years old now. Kibble Monster is set up partly because of him. Feeding him only good dog food, giving him play time and training are all essential keys to having a very rewarding pet ownership journey.

And that is why, Kibble Monster only sells Premium Dog Food, food that has at least 4 starts and above on Dog Food Advisor, and Premium Cat Food. We spent so much time talking to manufacturers, vets and experienced pet owners just to make sure we are doing the best we can from the retailer side. Also, we are constantly updating our Food Bank, food that no longer make the mark are removed and new great food are constantly being added!

Review: Clinique Even Better Foundation

Clinique Even Better Foundaton

Clinique Even Better Foundation

Good Day Everyone!

I hope everything is going smoothly for all of you. I love trying out foundations because I think good ones, when applied properly, really make a lot of difference to once appearance. For my job as a makeup artist, the way the foundation is applied usually give signs of how experience the artist is so it has been drilled into my Makeup Brain from day 1 that if you missed on applying a good foundation, the rest of the makeup does not really matter anymore.

The more I work, the more I think that is true. Choosing and applying foundation the right way is 1 of the best skill a girl can have. It can instantly make your entire look appear more expensive.

So, if you are looking for a foundation that gives you a glow like a BB Cream, but wants something that gives more coverage than a BB Cream, I have good news for you. Clinique Even Better Foundation will be your new BFF.

Its Features:

    • Oil Free and comes with SPF 15 PA++
    • See improved clarity and a more even skin tone
    • Suitable for all ethnic groups skin type
    • Visibly diminishes age spots

What I Think:

Pros:

    • Oil Free and Non Greasy
    • Even out skin tone pretty well
    • No fragrance
    • Gives skin a glow
    • Works well as a daily foundation
    • Very easy to apply with fingers or brushes

Cons:

    • Although it gives skin a nice glow, I find that it is a little artificial.
    • Because of the artificial glow, it does not work well with camera, especially with flash.
    • Not suitable for oily skin or skin that tends to shine. Will look extra oily or shinny with this foundation.

Will I Recommend It?

If you are into the Korean Look, which features super dewy skin, even the man has it, then this is your dream foundation. It gives you a dewy or glow that no BB Cream can match. I have tried a lot of BB Cream and I’m serious when I said this. Check out my BB Cream Post if you are looking for a BB Cream.

If you have tired looking skin, dull skin, skin that needs some boost, this is a good option for you. However, this is not suitable for oily skin. Oily skin is much better off with oil control or semi matte foundations. I shall recommend some very soon!

Have a lovely day ahead and thank you for reading Makeup Toys!

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion MA

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion

Hi guys!

Thank you for being patient with my Not-So-Often Blogging. It usually takes me about 2 weeks to test out Makeup and Skin Care products before I have a better idea of how effective they are and who to recommend them to, so thank you once again for being patient with me.
I only write about products after testing them for a while because as much as we love to buy on impulse and on first impression, I think it is only ethical to write about products, both good and bad after various test and on different skin types. I started this blog with that in mind because I want Makeup Toys to be a useful makeup and skin care review website, not a blog that only talks about products that are sponsored and base on first impression, so I will stay true to that. Makeup Toys is a blog that I use to share useful and honest reviews about Makeup and Skin Care from all over the world.

If you have been reading my blog, you might have remembered that I did mention about using Baking Soda or Sodium Bicarbonate as a facial scrub. I have given many people this recommendation but most often than not, I receive a weird facial expression that tells me they do not really believe in that or that they would still prefer a Skin Care product. So after trying many microdermabrasion, I am very glad to recommend The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion.

Its Features:

    • Weekly home used facial exfoliation
    • Contains Vitamin C & Community Trade Shea Butter
    • Micro beads

What I Think:

Pros:

    • I like that it helps to brighten up the complexion after one use.
    • It is a microdermabrasion, so the scrub beads are really small. This is really good because it is able to scrub hard to reach spaces such as around the nose area and our chin.
    • Skin does not feel irritated due to the moisturising Shea Butter. In fact, my skin looks brighter and has a slight glow.
    • I usually apply a mask after a weekly scrub. After using this microdermabrasion, my skin is able to absorb the vitamins from the masks better, especially Laneige Water Sleeping Pack. My skin is more supple and makeup goes on really easily the next day.

Cons:

    • I really love strong and powerful scrub as I really like the fresh, smooth feeling on my skin. This Microdermabrasion is still a little gentle for me. However, it will be great for people who needs an effective and yet gentle scrub.
    • Many people claim that Microdermabrasion helps reduces fine lines and wrinkles. However, I do not think that the result is very visible. On repeated use on mature skin, fine lines and wrinkles are still present, no sign of going away. Skin, however does look brighter.

Will I Recommend It?

If you are looking for a gentle yet effective weekly scrub, this is the best Microdermabrasion you can find in the market. Because it is reasonably price and works very well. I understand that there are many brands out there with Microdermabrasion, like Dermalogica and Khiel’s but they are way too expensive for me.

If you like strong scrubs, I will highly recommend Baking Soda. Simply because it is so strong, and yet to cheap. You can also use it for your entire body. Remember to moisturise your body after your weekly scrub! It will leave your skin supple, youthful and rosy the next day!

Hot and Humid Summer Makeup Tips

Posted on by Gwen Tan in Makeup | Leave a comment

makeup_stock_028-S-S

Hey Guys!

The long weekend is approaching and I hope you are getting all geared up for the fun! Remember in my previous post I mentioned that I’m going to share some makeup tips for the hot and humid summer weather in Singapore? Well, this is it. I have also included some product recommendations for each tip so it will be easier for you if you are looking for some recommendations. Hope this helps!

Makeup Tips for Hot and Humid Summer

    • Always use an oil control primer before you apply any makeup if you have oily skin. If you do not have an oil control primer, use a makeup setting spray. Urban Decay has a range of fantastic makeup setting sprays that suit different skin type needs. Trust me, this is the best prevention method for messy makeup due to oily skin and humid weather.
    • If you have dry skin and yet need makeup to last, use a gel cream base moisturiser to prep your skin before makeup application. Use an oil free foundation, or even a good BB Cream, without any powder for lasting makeup.
    • Avoid 2-way-cake (powder foundation) at all cost, even if you have oily skin and you think powder can control or mattify your skin. In our hot and humid weather, powder when mixed with facial oil, is the first thing to get cakey and appears as a “floating” layer of product on your skin. This does not look natural and hence not beautiful/classy at all. Cakey makeup looks cheap and poorly applied, no matter how good your skin looks underneath. Mattifying Liquid Foundation is your best friend.
    • Apply only what you need, in Summer, less is more. If you need to conceal your imperfections (dark circles, scars, blemishes), use a good concealer. Laura Mercier and Shu Uemura makes some awesome concealer that you can check out.
    • Waterproof Mascara is the best for this weather. Check out Chanel and Maybelline for the gravity defying waterproof jet black mascaras.
    • Same as waterproof mascara, waterproof eyeliner (crayon, pencil, liquid or gel) are the best for eye lids that tend to sweat or get oily . To make them last even longer, apply a little eyeshadow power over the liner. Give a few seconds for the product to set together before opening your eyes. Check out Chanel, Bobbi Brown and CLIO for their really good range of waterproof eyeliners.
    • Use cream eyeshadows. They are more lasting and require less product for strong colours. The less you apply, the less chance of smudges. Makeup Forever has a lovely range of Aqua Cream Eyeshadows best for this type of weather.
    • Do not use loose powder on your entire face. Overly mattifying your entire face will make your face look flat and 1 dimensional. Use powder as sparingly as possible. Usually only under the eyes (dark circles area) and T Zone.
    • To bring out the dimensions of the face, use a blusher with slight shimmer property to make your cheeks pop.

Thank you for reading once again and have a great long weekend ahead!
