Hello Once Again!
Over the years of doing makeup and hair, I have began to realise that who you work with is much more important than what you are working on. Awesome people come together and they produce spectacular work. It is as simple as that.
The entire process of pre to post production is always more memorable and more enjoyable when you are working with awesome people. And awesome here means people who are professional, wants and will achieve good work, have a fantastic attitude, respect your creativity and space and most importantly, they have learnt how to trust by taking risk.
This Rainy September, me and AforArcade at www.aforarcade.com teamed up once again for their October 2013 Lookbook, and yes, they are the awesome bunch of people who I am talking about. I love working with them and it is always a pleasure. Usually I will have to choose to pick only a few photos that I love from all the work that I have done for sharing because there are simply too many, but this time round, I love the entire series of photos and I could not just pick a few. Photos that are put together as a series by the photographer must be presented as the series. I feel that in this way, you will respect the photographer artistic eye and hence respect his or her work. I have uploaded the entire series onto my Portfolio.
Do take a look and have fun shopping at AforArcade!
I hope you love this series as much as I do. More to come folks as I take time to upload all the work I have done this year!
I think not everybody loves matte eyeshadows. Usually it is because they are harder to apply as they show mistakes, especially blending errors really easily. However, if you are willing to put in a little more effort into learning how to blend, matte eyeshadows are actually your best friend, in terms of colour and pigment quality, and endless looks you can create with them.
I love odds colours, or colours that are not commonly used for daily makeup. Have always find them irresistible when I see them. Also, matte eyeshadows are not very easy to find as they are not so consumer friendly. You can only expect to find them in Makeup Speciality Stores like MAC, MAC PRO, Shu Uemura and Makeup Store.
I have all the matte shadows from the brands mentioned above but today, I’m going to share my favourite of them all. In terms of price and the quality that you get. Say hello to Make Up Store Matte Microshadow!
- Highly pigmented although they are compressed powder eyeshadows
- Can be used together with Makeup Store Mixing Liquid and use as face paint or eyeliner
- Will also be waterproof with Mixing liquid
What I Think:
- As a powder eyeshadow, it is easy to blend.
- Colour is highly pigmented.
- A very decent price for a large pot of eyeshadow. ($27)
- A very wide range of Matte Eyeshadows which are absolutely gorgeous.
- Little fall out.
- It is stated on their website that Microshadow creates colour that last the entire day, I personally find that it only hold true if you use their Clear Eye Primer. Without the primer, especially for oily lids, it will not last the entire day.
- The packaging as usual is not very sturdy. With multiple openings, the hinge actually breaks.
Will I Recommend It?
Yes if you love eyeshadows like I do and is not afraid to wear them. If you are not as adventurous in terms of eye makeup, it is also alright. Try out their blushers instead, the matte ones are lovely too! great for oily skin and looks that require matte cheeks.
If you are a professional makeup artist like I do, Make Up Store Matte Microshadows are an absolute must in your kit!
Hope all is well! I’m so busy like a bee but I’m loving every minute of my work. It has been great and I hope things are great at your end as well.

Clinique Even Better Foundation
Good Day Everyone!
I hope everything is going smoothly for all of you. I love trying out foundations because I think good ones, when applied properly, really make a lot of difference to once appearance. For my job as a makeup artist, the way the foundation is applied usually give signs of how experience the artist is so it has been drilled into my Makeup Brain from day 1 that if you missed on applying a good foundation, the rest of the makeup does not really matter anymore.
The more I work, the more I think that is true. Choosing and applying foundation the right way is 1 of the best skill a girl can have. It can instantly make your entire look appear more expensive.
So, if you are looking for a foundation that gives you a glow like a BB Cream, but wants something that gives more coverage than a BB Cream, I have good news for you. Clinique Even Better Foundation will be your new BFF.
- Oil Free and comes with SPF 15 PA++
- See improved clarity and a more even skin tone
- Suitable for all ethnic groups skin type
- Visibly diminishes age spots
What I Think:
- Oil Free and Non Greasy
- Even out skin tone pretty well
- No fragrance
- Gives skin a glow
- Works well as a daily foundation
- Very easy to apply with fingers or brushes
- Although it gives skin a nice glow, I find that it is a little artificial.
- Because of the artificial glow, it does not work well with camera, especially with flash.
- Not suitable for oily skin or skin that tends to shine. Will look extra oily or shinny with this foundation.
Will I Recommend It?
If you are into the Korean Look, which features super dewy skin, even the man has it, then this is your dream foundation. It gives you a dewy or glow that no BB Cream can match. I have tried a lot of BB Cream and I’m serious when I said this. Check out my BB Cream Post if you are looking for a BB Cream.
If you have tired looking skin, dull skin, skin that needs some boost, this is a good option for you. However, this is not suitable for oily skin. Oily skin is much better off with oil control or semi matte foundations. I shall recommend some very soon!
Have a lovely day ahead and thank you for reading Makeup Toys!
